Malcesine from the South, Watercolour 9 x 12 inches
I travel and to paint widely in many parts of the world using
most media and meeting many interesting people. My earlier
visual influences were the Impressionists, particularly their
use of open-air paintings and rapid techniques and the use
of raw colour which spread to influences in, say, the Australian
greats of the early 1900's.
Travelling has brought me into contact with
many fine outdoor amateur painters particularly in Venice,
and working alongside professionals such as Ken Howard, James
Longueville and Ray Balkwill.
This site has been rearranged by media and a
new section on computers expanded on the rapid development
of interest in digital techniques. I see merit in using cameras
for design and electronic "notebooks" as sketchpads
for exploring new ideas.
The world-wide-web now offers a global view
of art influences and my main site "www.dodridge.biz"
was developed to indicate my wide use of watercolour, pastels,
oils and interest in computers. The third site "www.dodridge.info"
links Mathematics and Art and offers cross-over 'mathart'.
